Who We Are
Hi, we are Mick & Chris Gordon and presently in the town
of Boston in Lincolnshire, England.
In The Beginning...
Our introduction to the world of dog shows began in the eighties with a red/white Boxer bitch, Zeta Meter Maid of Rustibee (Zeta)
; she was to change our lives forever, doing well enough in the
show ring for us to get hooked on showing. she was also an excellent mother and produced lovely puppies with excellent temperaments.
Why 'Rustibee'
We registered our affix RUSTIBEE in 1988; the name comes from the nickname given to
the Royal Navy ship HMS Bulwark the ship Mick was serving on when we met. It was also in 1988 that we met and became friendly with John and Mary Hambleton of the World famous Marbelton Kennels who helped us a great deal in those early years.
Our Further Involvement With Boxers
We continued to show Boxers for some time after with some success, we both began to judge Boxers and Mick went on to do other breeds in the working
group. We are life members of the Tyne
Wear & Tees Boxer club, and at various times have both served on the committee, Mick
is privileged to serve as the present Club Secretary, We began an advice line for Boxer owners and Mick was invited to become a
boxer breed adviser for Dogs Today Magazine.
In the late 1990's due to Mick's growing health problems we were finding it increasingly difficult to continue
to show the Boxers and began to look for an alternative way of remaining in the show ring.
The Next Chapter...
And so on to French Bulldogs...
We have long been admirers of the Frenchie breed, and for several years we had been making enquiries to obtain a show quality bitch. We had spoken to a number of people over the years finally speaking to
Mrs. Anne Gray of the Spandapa Frenchies who said she would keep us in mind
should one become available. One Saturday night, a few months later the phone rang; it was the chance we had been waiting for. Colin & Allison Hurt of the Truhali Frenchies were looking to home a 5 month old brindle bitch. They had been keeping her to show, but Colin's work commitments were increasing
leaving little time for dog shows and felt they wanted someone who would actively campaign their little baby. So Emily, Truhali Ice Maiden at Rustibee came into our lives, and what a joy she is, although rather aloof at times and quite bossy with the Boxers, that she is such a character, we have since found this so typical of the Frenchie. She has surpassed our expectations in the
show ring and has introduced us to many new friends within the world of Frenchies.
Our Second Frenchie
Rupert, joined the family in 2001, and
only deepened our passion for the breed. He has had also
been quite successful in the show ring, and we hope he will have an influence on the future of Rustibee Frenchies.
The Future For Rustibee
As you can see, we were unable to stop at just two Frenchies and the stork has
visited Emily twice (with a little help from Anne Gray's Spandapa Maestro Mac)
and left seven Frenchie babies the first time. Martha, Boris, Bunty, Mortimer, Basil, Hugo and
Phoebe, on the second visit it left us with four babies, Vienna, Vinnie, Hugo
2nd and Lily.
At the moment Martha, Boris, Bunty and Vienna are representing Rustibee in the show ring Meanwhile their Mum (Emily) and uncle Rupert have gone into retirement for the moment.
We are very lucky to welcome to the Rustibee Family LOLA (Nokomis Moon of Leaves for Rustibee), who was bred by Mrs Jill Keates of the World Famous Nokomis Kennels. Lola will be making her debut at Bournemouth 2006.
Finally as always we will continue to try and help if we can dog lovers,
especially Boxer and Frenchie owners everywhere.
